When looking for a Fresno Engagement Photographer, you have a lot of things to consider. Here are 7 tips to get the most out of your engagement session.
There are many different types of styles and approaches to photography. Search Instagram or Pinterest to find ideas on what styles you like then make your list from there. Do you want someone that is Light and Airy? Dark and Moody? Posed or unposed? Maybe something in the middle?
I personal consider myself to bright bright, warm, and true to life. I want my images to evoke feelings of romance and love but to be classic enough that they will stand the test of time.
2. Hire the photographer you want to shoot your wedding for your engagement photos.
Having your engagement session with your wedding photographer allows you to learn more about each other before your wedding day. I always say that the engagement session is a test run, it’s not normal to be in front of a camera all day so you want to be comfortable with your photographer. Having your engagement session with your wedding photographer adds an extra layer of comfort. It’s like practice for your big day, you’ll learn my posing system (it’s SUPER easy) which helps make wedding day portraits a breeze. We get to hang out and learn a little about each other (after all you spend the more time with your photographer than you do any other wedding day vendor).
3. Consider the season when scheduling your engagement session
Most people think about having their engagement session done 9-12 months before their wedding day so they can use the photos for save the dates, your wedding website, etc. But another important factor to consider is the season. Do you beautiful fall foliage in your images? Or maybe a snowy meadow?
4. Choosing the right location
Fresno is central to a ton of beautiful locations. Yosemite, Sequoia, Shaver Lake, Bass Lake, the Central Coast, there is really no limit on where we can go. Some couples want an amazing location, others want somewhere that is special to them, maybe the coffee shop you where you met, or in Yosemite where they proposed? Your options are endless.
5. Planning the right outfits
This one can be tricky, you want to look your best but you also want to feel like yourself. I always recommend shopping for something you might normally wear to a special event. Neutral colors always photograph the best, when finding outfits for your partner and yourself you want to coordinate and not be super match-y.
Before your engagement session I send you an email with all my favorite online boutiques for engagement outfits and a Pinterest board for ideas.
6. Consider hiring a professional hair and make-up artist
You don’t need full glam like it’s your wedding day but professionals know what make-up photographs well and what doesn’t. You can even use this opportunity to test out a make-up artist before you hire them for your big day.
7. Relax and enjoy the experience!
You are only a fiancé for a short time, enjoy it! Use your engagement session to celebrate this milestone and this time in your life. Trust your photographer to do what they do best and enjoy your time with your future spouse.
